"I don't contribute to Open Source because..." Well if you've seen any of my content then you know that this is not something I would say EVER. I decided to make a video with the most common endings to this sentence and...my reply to them as to why I do think it's a good idea to contribute to open source, so that you can further your career and skills.

On myth 4. Starting out small is always a good idea, better than not at all. However, if you get too comfortable with low hanging fruits like documentation improvements and trivial good-first-issue patches, without any intent to progressively move on to bigger contributions, you are limiting your potential to grow.

Quantity vs quality. I see new contributors do many open source contributions at start but they are not good ones just making doc changes, writing blogsr, small changes etc. Instead of doing these things we should put time on improving skill depth and contribute a 1 good quality open source contribution instead of doing multiple small open source contribution.

I went to the pandas github repo today. Didn't understand a thing. Nowhere was there anything that I could help with, and I'm not THAT bad at Python (or perhaps I am)

start small and build up to it, you don't need to start with code changes, learn more about the project first and network with the project's community
